Title
Description
The Last Supper is an oil on canvas painting Jacopo Tintoretto painted. This Italian Renaissance artist painted this between the years 1592-1594. The scene portrays a frontal view with multiple people sitting parallel from each other. The painting currently resides at the Basilica di San Giorgio Maggiore, Venice inside of the sanctuary on the right wall. The dimensions of this painting are 365 cm x 568 cm. Tintoretto created The Last Supper during the last stages of his career but is also considered one of his prime work of art.
In the Last Supper, a lot of secondary characters occupy the center of the painting. The painting is very dim around the edges but close to the middle of the painting is self-illumination lighting this area up. The area that is lit shows off Christ, while some other characters have a small illumination around them. Near the ceiling, you can see angel-like figures flying around. Across the room are very dramatic characters doing different tasks. The room this is taking place in looks very tight but extremely decorative with the multiple patterns o the floor and wall designs. To the far right of this painting, you see a big table of food that’s being served by a woman and a man. Underneath the man is a lady on her knees washing the dirty dishes. Picturing myself in the room I can hear this scene being very loud and rejoiceful. The supernatural elements into the presentation of this piece ultimately pull it together.
