San Carlo alle Quattro Fontane
Dublin Core
Title
San Carlo alle Quattro Fontane
Subject
This is a Roman Catholic Church in the Baroque style
Description
This church was constructed between 1638 and 1641 in Rome, Italy. The architect, Francesco Borromini, is known as the Father of Baroque architecture, with the San Carlo being his first solo work. The site on which the church is built on was cramped and awkward, and Borromini used a combination of the Baroque curves and cubic elements to fit the space and create a work of art that played with movement, lights and shadows, and helped to start a new style of architecture.
