Venetian art has revolutionized dramatically throughout the 14th, 15th, 16th, 17th, and 18th centuries. This style of art was a major force during the Italian Renaissance paintings and a guy by the name of Paolo Veneziano started it all off. Venetian art was developed based on Western paintings. The first form of Venetian art was seen in the 14th century when the frescos were commissioned to be painted in the Doge’s Palace. Going into the 15th-century art transitioned from Italo Byzantine style to an International Gothic style. Venetian art revolutionized mainly through three artists named Giovanni Bellini, Titian, and Tintoretto. Giovanni Bellini is credited for the overall creation of the Venetian style of art. In fact, the Bellini family was one of two major dynasties in this century. The other major dynasty belonged to the Vivarini family. Titian was known as the most successful member of the Venetian art school and it showed throughout his works during his time. Titian produced several great works of art ultimately earning the title of the most influential Venetian painter. He became versatile and specialized in portraits, mythological subjects, and landscapes. Tintoretto emerged for the amazing energy he painted with and the boldness seen in his paintings. His work features overly dramatic gestures and muscular figures. He was also a graduate from the Venetian school.
